 A public judging event is held each year at the National Rose Trial Garden within the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.
Members of the general public are encouraged to visit the Trial Gardens to cast their votes for their most favoured roses and view those new roses most likely to be released in the coming seasons.
These results provide an excellent insight for rose breeders, rose growers and retailers as to those types of roses which are most popular to the public.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE 2023
The People’s Choice weekend was held in the Adelaide Botanic Garden on the 15 and 16 of April. The 5 most popular roses on the weekend selected by 640 members of the public were numbers 21, 9, 12, 19 and 8.
The winner of the prize supplied by Neutrog, Garden Grove, RIAUS and the Rose Society of South Australia, selected the top 5 roses in the correct order and is Nathalia from Woodville South. The most popular rose selected is a red hybrid tea bred by Rosen Tantau in Germany and entered into the Trial Garden by Knight’s Roses from Gawler. The rose is yet to be named in Australia.
